Caregiver
Support Services
The services of Park Slope
Geriatric Day Center continue to evolve and grow, and each
of these evolutions is a direct response to needs that we
observe or those that are expressed by members and caregivers.
The Family Resource Center grew out of a recognition that
caring for an older loved affects the whole family, and that
families need more support in our fast-paced and ever-changing
society.
Caregiver Services:
In this area we are setting up support programs by telephone
and internet that will make it easier for caregivers to communicate
with knowledgeable staff and with each other. Learning about
the latest medical news and sharing ideas that make life easier
will be enhanced by teleconferencing, internet chat room, electronic bulletin board, and bilingual
peer support groups facilitated by staff and offered with
simultaneous respite care. PSGDC coordinates with other organizations
through the Brooklyn Caregiver Resource Committee to offer the best caregiver services
possible.
Resource Library: Literature,
videos and referrals in our library at FRADSC benefit both
caregivers and members.
Saturday Respite: Saturday
is a busy day for caregivers with errands and chores, and
we added Saturday Adult Day Services at the Family Resource
and Adult Day Services Center in response to caregiver requests.
In the fall we added transportation to Saturday services.
