CONSIDER A BEQUEST

Whether you are making a will for the first time or adding a codicil to an existing will be sure to consult an attorney. A will is essential if you wish to make a bequest to Park Slope Geriatric Day Center. Naming the Center in a will is an effective way to provide for its future without neglecting current responsibilities.
A bequest to PSGDC is not subject to federal or state inheritance taxes. Your estate receives a tax deduction for the full fair-market value of your bequest.
If you would like more information about how to use your will to accomplish your charitable objectives, please contact Marianne Nicolosi, Executive Director, at mnicolosi@psgdc.org or call her at (718) 499-7701.

PSGDC places an emphasis on staff development and trainings. Over the past few months our staff has attended many trainings at the NYC Department for the Aging, including workshops on time management, teleconferencing, and creative programming. Administrative staff found the budgeting and grant-writing workshops sponsored by the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies very useful.

As our front page article indicates, keeping up on the best information in benefits and entitlements includes attending trainings both outside the office and also by web conferencing. Supervisory staff found a National Council on the Aging (NCOA) session on health promotion programs in senior settings insightful in learning to empower seniors to seek the programs they need. Advocacy is important too, and staff members regularly attend lobby days in Albany to press for better services for seniors throughout our state.

In March Marianne Nicolosi and interior designer Licia Berlinck presented a slide show about the Prospect Park West center at the NCOA annual conference in Philadelphia.

Associate Executive Director Christopher Nadeau has been appointed to the United Way of NYC Nonprofit Leadership Development Institute Senior Fellows Program. About 25 high performing nonprofit leaders participate in a rigorous year long certificate program. It is designed to train emerging leaders in core competencies of nonprofit management and leadership.
