Safe Return
Program
The
Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter, received funding
from the NYC City Council and Department for the Aging to increase
enrollment in the Safe Return Program. Safe Return is a national
identification program that assists community members and police
officers in the safe and timely return of individuals with memory
impairment who are lost.
The
program also provides education about wandering and support to
families during a wandering event, along with care afterward.
With
the new funding, the Alzheimer’s Association is able to enroll
2,500 New Yorkers who have Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory
disorder, free of charge.
Enrollment
over the phone is available in English, Spanish, and Russian at
(212) 983-6906 x205. Applications can be downloaded from the Alzheimer's
Association website.
